December 6th - Every year my cousin and her husband host a family Christmas gathering for all the aunts, uncles and cousins in our immediate family, and a birthday celebration for her father and daughter. They are so gracious to open their home to the large noisy bunch that we are! And the number keeps growing - Lucie is the most recent addition to the family. There were a few families missing this year, but I think of the families attending there were 16 kids. It was loud and everyone had great fun. It was especially fun to see all the kids interacting and the babies playing with each other. My cousin's babies are four months older than Lucie, and they are walking and talking up a storm. They were so sweet with Lucie, patting her on the head and sharing their toys and books with her. Lucie said her first words at the party, other than Mama. She heard the other children saying that the fire was hot, and as she crawled near it she stopped and said "hot" and started backing up. Lucie also played on the cousins' rocking duck and absolutely loved it - and said "quack quack" (kudos to my sister for teaching Lucie how to say it). It was so cute. I wish I had it on tape. She can't quite say the "qu" sound, so it comes out as "cack cack."
